With Living Planet @ Work, WWF is harnessing the collective power of individuals in the workplace to tackle the greatest conservation challenges of our generation.
We envision a world in which thriving ecosystems support thriving economies; a world where what's good for the long-term success of corporations is also good for the long-term sustainability of people and the planet.
To make that possible, WWF has launched the Living Planet @ Work program. We provide the strategic guidance, green business ideas, free tools and support that empower companies to rethink their operations and find greener ways of doing business.
Most importantly, Living Planet @ Work helps companies engage employees to be green. By inspiring individuals, we're not just driving more sustainable business practices; we're creating environmental advocates who will lead a wave of environmental change at work as well as in their homes, schools and communities.

WWF-Canada’s Goal for Living Planet @ Work
We are thinking big – we are setting out to achieve a critical mass of organizations and businesses committed to sustainability and going green. Our target, by 2014, is to:
- Recruit 500 companies to join Living Planet @ Work
- Engage 100 000 employees in WWF’s public mobilization campaigns
- Raise $1 million for conservation through workplace giving.
Ultimately, our goal is to facilitate a major shift in how workplace and business decisions, and the people who make them, contribute to the conservation of our planet.
How can I join Living Planet @ Work and what are the benefits?
There are several ways to get involved in the Living Planet @ Work program:
What it takes: You’ll need vision, passion and a willingness to dedicate several hours a week to establishing and running an at-work greening program, which includes championing the environment as a beneficiary of workplace giving.
How you’ll benefit: Spearheading sustainability within your office or organization is an opportunity to drive meaningful change, expand your knowledge, build your leadership skills and create meaningful results. And by joining Living Planet @ Work as an environmental and sustainability leader, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with a supportive group of like-minded peers.
Next step: Take our questionnaire and register to receive suggested actions for getting started on your path to sustainability in the office.
What it takes: Change requires effort. While WWF makes it as easy as possible, change must be led from inside your organization. You will need to allocate resources to support your office sustainability initiative, mobilize your staff and organize a workplace giving campaign or donation program.
How you’ll benefit: Your organization will get full access to online green tools, quarterly webinars, virtual Q & As and our monthly champion newsletter, as well as recognition as a green business on our website — all absolutely free. Furthermore, participating with WWF will differentiate your business as one that cares about the environment.
Next step: Register your company for Living Planet @ Work! Once you have done so, invite a colleague to act as Workplace Green Champion.
What it takes: As well as allocating resources to support sustainability within your own organization and encouraging workplace giving, partners contribute $50,000 to the ongoing evolution of our Living Planet @ Work program.
How you’ll benefit: WWF will provide dedicated, one-on-one sustainability consulting support to help engage your employees, set your environmental goals, develop a customized strategic plan and put it into action. We’ll offer exclusive learning, training and networking opportunities via green business workshops with our conservation experts. In addition, we’ll recognize your organization’s achievements and help document your journey through news coverage, blog posts, case studies and video diaries — raising your organization’s profile as a green business and encouraging others to replicate your success.

What it takes: Transformative changes need smart and strategic investors. Your philanthropic support gives us the vital resources to leverage our pilot project success into sector-wide change.
How you’ll benefit: As a savvy investor, you will see your investment multiply in impact as the Living Planet @ Work program expands, increasing the capacity of Canadian businesses to contribute meaningfully to conservation. We’ll work with you to acknowledge and celebrate your investment in this program in a way that is appropriate and meaningful to you.
